About Caleb
Caleb Plant is a 26-year old undefeated American boxer who was born in Nashville, Tennessee, to parents Beth (mother) and Richie Plant (father). He is the middle child to older sister Hannah (31) and younger sister Madeline (20).
Despite growing up in Ashland City with very little and fighting through challenges including the death of his daughter, Alia, in 2015 he never gave up. Caleb’s father Richie, a former kickboxer, brought his son to the gym at age 9, in hopes to keep him on the straight and narrow. He started kickboxing, and became a nine-time national champion and five-time world champion. His dad wanted to give him an outlet so he could better himself and be more successful in life, rather than be a statistic like most other kids growing up in his neighborhood.
As an amateur Caleb won numerous tournament titles while compiling a record of 97 wins with only 20 defeats. Some of his favorite fighters growing up were James Toney, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Meldrick Taylor and Andre Ward. In today’s boxing era, Caleb enjoys watching Floyd Mayweather Jr. and his ability to stay composed while having a great ring I.Q to go along with this great business skills. Because Caleb Plant rarely gets hit during his fights, many boxing pundits compare his fighting style to Floyd Mayweather Jr.
On May 10, 2014 at age 21, Caleb made his professional debut against Travis Davidson at the USC Galen Center in Los Angeles, California. Caleb would only need 47 seconds to end the fight with a vicious knockout.
On June 27, 2014, at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, Caleb would face Mike Noriega. Caleb would dominate the 4-round bout winning every round convincingly, going the distance for the first time. Scorecards read 40-36 across the board. Caleb would close out the 2014 year winning three more bouts against Brian True, Jovan Ramierez, and Daryl Gardner, all coming by way of knockout. Caleb would go (5-0, 4 KOs) in 2014.
On March 6, 2015, Caleb would make his 2015 debut against Daniel Henry at the MGM Grand, Marquee Ballroom in Las Vegas, Nevada. This would be his first 6-round bout. After sending Henry to the canvass twice in the first round, Caleb would end the bout with a knockout at the 2:29 mark.
On May 29, 2015, Plant would face Jason Zabokrtsky at the Stadium Holiday Inn in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Caleb would only need 1:49 to end the bout in the first round by way of knockout.
On June 27, 2015 Caleb stepped up in competition against Juan Carlos Rojas at the Sands Casino Resort in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Rojas would take Caleb past the first round but would only last to the fourth. The bout ended by way of knockout at the 1:03 mark of round four.
On August 15, 2015 Plant scored an impressive knockout against Zoltan Sera, a devastating stoppage the ended the bout at the 2:19 mark of round one. This would be the sixth first round knockout of his career.
September 15, 2015, makes the day Caleb Plant would fight in his first 8-round bout against Jamar Freeman, a veteran of 18 fights. Plant would go the full 8-rounds winning a unanimous decision. Freeman was down in round three. Scorecards read 80-71 twice and 79-72.
On Oct 31, 2015 Caleb defeated Tyron Brunson in his second 8-round bout as a professional. Plant dominated the fight winning a unanimous decision to close out the 2015 year. Scorecards read 79-73 twice and 78-74.
Caleb made his 2016 debut on Jan 19th at Club Nokia in Los Angeles. He would win by 6th round TKO against Adasat Rodriguez. He would follow that victory with on Jun 3, 2016 with a 4th round KO against Carlos Galvan, a fight that took place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
On August 23rd, Caleb Plant would fight in his first 10-round main event, a nationally televised bout on ESPN. He would win a unanimous decision against Juan DeAngel winning every round with scorecard reading 100-89 across the board. The bout took place at the Sands Bethlehem Event Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
On February 25, 2017, Caleb defeated hard punching Thomas Awimbono (25-6-1, 21 KOs) in a main event televised live on Fox Sports 1. With the victory, Caleb is now ranked IBF #11 and WBA #8.
On September 8, 2017, Plant faced the 31-year-old switch-hitting journeyman Andrew Hernandez, who took the fight on just eight days' notice after Alan Campa dropped out. Plant jabbed effectively (81 of 271, 30 percent) while neutralizing Hernandez's usually effective jab (46 of 325, 14 percent). Plant was also sharp with his power shots landing 44 percent to Hernandez's 19 percent. Caleb Plant recorded a 10-round shutout decision against a tough Hernandez (19-7-1, 9 KOs) as the scorecards read 100-90 three times.
On Saturday, Feb. 17 from Don Haskins Center on the UTEP campus in El Paso, Texas, Caleb Plant scored a unanimous victory over Rogelio Medina. Plant now, 17-0, 10 KOs, of Ashland City, Tennessee, beat Mexico’s Medina (38-9, 32 KOs) by big margins on all three scorecards over 12 rounds in a dominating performance. Scorecards read (120-108, 119-109, 117-111), all in favor of Plant.
According to ratings released by Nielsen Media Research, the 12-round unanimous decision, which FOX aired as the co-main event of a three-bout broadcast Saturday night, attracted a peak audience of 1,530,000. The entire telecast averaged 1,136,000 viewers for FOX.
On January 13, 2019, Caleb defeated Jose Uzcategui by unanimous decision to win the IBF Super Middleweight Championship live on Fox Sports One, broadcast to a record viewership, and a packed Microsoft Center in Los Angeles, CA.
In his spare time, Caleb enjoys spending time with his family and girlfriend. He enjoys basketball and football and loves the outdoors. With his unique style in clothing, Caleb is also a fashion icon. He has a vision of someday creating his own clothing line.
Caleb Plant is managed by world renowned boxing icon, Al Haymon. At (18-0, 10 KOs), Caleb is now one of the top fighters in the super-middleweight division.
Caleb has made the move from Nashville to Las Vegas to pursue his dream of becoming a world champion. Caleb Plant is a name the boxing world will know as he makes his 2019 world title debut in January.
Caleb has always dreamed of becoming a father someday. That dream came true when his daughter Alia Jean Plant was born on May 7, 2013. Sadly, she passed away at 19 months old due to a very rare disease that has not yet been diagnosed. On January 29, 2015, Alia Jean Plant left to be with the Lord at 10:55 am. Before and after every bout, Caleb dedicates his fights to his daughter Alia.
